Vintage Simonds 26" Skewback Saw No. 62 Blue Ribbon 9 TPI 1915-1922

Neat older Simonds saw. I'm not a collector nor a particularly well informed amateur, but I have had similar saws. I found this one listed in my copy of the company's 1923 catalog, and a very informative posting on a dedicated forum that indicated the medallion was used between 1915 - 1922 - and that the company stopped making saws altogether in 1926. The one was stored in a garage or barn, and shows it, with rust, pitting, paint spatters, a broken tooth. If nobody wants it, it will go out with the trash after the auction ends, although the handle might be worth saving. It's roughly 100 years old, maybe more, so it is what it is. I did remove the handle to clean it as best I could without causing further damage - not that it would have looked worse, probably - and also cleaned the paint from the medallion. Amazingly, blade looks straight to me. I tried to take a lot of pictures to give a good idea of markings and condition, so look at those to get the best idea of saw's characteristics. Markings do conform to those in the catalog. It is stamped "9" at the heel.
