Please note that eBay now adds sales tax to auctions and that USPS rates went up recently. I do my best to keep costs down, but I have no control over other entities. Thanks.
Very cool old hand saw, pretty sure it is a skew back rip saw, made by Disston. I don't know a lot about saws, get most of my information from the Disstonian Institute Web site and some other sites when I try to look up references for unfamiliar items. Sources indicate that the medallion was in use from 1917 - 1942, the etch is from about 1910 or so. The blade is carbon steel, the handle is made from wood. The saw has been used, but the real issues seem to come from storage: there is rust with a little pitting, dark streaks mostly on front of saw. Handle has damage to top horn, crack at bottom of hand hole that goes all the way through, missing rear of one rivet. I did rub it down with fine steel wool and oil to clean it up a bit, but it wasn't enough to clearly show what model of saw it is, can't see all of Henry Disston's quote beside keystone symbol. I cleaned up the handle a bit with Murphy's Oil Soap. I would guess it can be better restored by someone who is more knowledgeable about saws than I am. Pictures tell the story better than I can. Like I said, I don't know a lot about saws like this, so please look closely at pictures and ask any questions, and I will do my best to answer. Blade etch has the Keystone symbol with markings consistent with early 1910's, as stated on the Disstonian site, with Henry Disston's quote beside that. Medallion is "H. DISSTON & SONS / (keystone) / PHILADA." Medallion measures 7/8" across. Stamped "10" at heel.
