    Description

    We are offering a 0.5L Rudolf Ditmar majolica pewter lidded beer stein.
    Karl Rudolf Ditmar: born 3rd May 1818, in Preslau in the state of Brandenburg, died 22nd March, 1895, Znaim, Moravia. This piece is in great condition with two small flakes (see photo) on two of the the feet that rest on the table surface. They are only visible if the stein is turned over. The colors are soft and pastel and very festive and very detailed relief. There is a phrase around the top rim "Hoch lebe der Ackersmann" which translate to "Long live Ackersmann". The steeple lid has five levels and the thumblift is very ornate. The strap is tight and the tang is firmly affixed to the lid. The stein stands 11 1/4". Please email if you have questions.
    Karl Rudolf Ditmar: born 3rd May 1818, in Preslau in the state of Brandenburg, died 22nd March, 1895, Znaim, Moravia. Rudolf and his brother Friedrich relocated to Vienna in 1839, where they traded in oil lamps. On the 5th August 1841, as the Ditmar Brothers, they opened their own metalwork facility manufacturing oil lamps.
