    ORIGINAL CIRCA 1870 CARTE DE VISITE FORMAT ALBUMEN PRINT PHOTOGRAPH by SAMUEL CARNELL, NAPIER, NEW ZEALAND.
    A FANTASTIC STUDIO PORTRAIT OF MAORI CHIEF, TE HAPUKU (died 1878), wearing his korowai. The photograph is blind-stamped "S. CARNELL" across the foot of the image.
    It was probably taken by Carnell in his Napier studio around 1870.
    THE PHOTO IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, AS IS THE MOUNT.
