    Description

Shortly prior to their 50th Jubilee in 2007, the S.A.S.R. commissioned a poster to celebrate their 50 years of service to Australia
This poster was commissioned by the well known Aussie military artist Ian Coates, who had 5 SASR troopers don different uniforms worn by the SASR over their 5 decades of service
The troopers randomly selected posed for the artist, were photographed, & from those images was born this stunning Australian SAS Regimental Jubilee poster
Only a year AFTER this celebratory event, on 2 September 2008, the trooper (depicted kneeling beneath the Southern Cross constellation, in Borneo kit) performed a heroic rescue under intense enemy fire, saving the lives of several comrades
Then KNOWN ONLY AS "Trooper F" he became the 1st recipient of the Victoria Cross for Australia on 16 Jan 2009
Corporal Mark Donaldson V.C. has extensive biographical information published all over the WWW including many 100's of images
SIZE = A1 or "full poster" size
Blue PRINT (pictorial area) measures = 690 mm by 635 mm
    Outside dimensions = 720 mm by 600 mm (28" by 23.5")
The poster is serial numbered & personally signed by the (then) CO LTCOL Dan McDaniel, DSM. & (then) RSM WO1 Bill Maher. of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment
NOTE = Serial # WILL DIFFER from # shown
The five central figures represent the different periods in the SAS Regiment’s history, (1st - Company Days & Borneo, 2nd - Vietnam, 3rd - The Training Years & CT, 4th - Peacekeeping & Timor, 5th - Middle East)
These figures stand together as a wall protecting Australia which is coloured to represent the hard-won sandy beret
The blue ocean, behind the Southern Cross, represents the Australian flag, & behind the winged dagger represents the SASR banner
Finally, the sea of historical images pays homage to the versatility and sacrifice of the SAS soldier
