    Description

    This 28 inch rip saw has about 4 ppi and has seen some heavy use. I think I see a 25 above the Bakewell & Co die stamp, that would make sense with the 25 being one of WM&B's flagship saws. Earliest 25 I have seen, can't find the secondary XLCR die stamp that became standard later but then there is a good bit of patina on the plate. This one will date to the 1850's, 1860 at the latest. Has a replaced saw nut.
