Antique Carte de Visite (CDV) Circa 1859-1889 Matted Photo of a Well Dressed Woman With Some Kind of Birth Defect it Deformity. Photo is small - measures approximately 4” x 2 5/16”. Sepia toned. CDV’s were the first photographic technique where one could use a negative to make copies. Are characterized by photos in thin paper glued onto heavy card stock. On the back it indicates that the photograph was taken by a photographer out of Columbus, Ohio. In pencil it says “Deformed” on the back as well. Even though there may be multiple copies of this photo, the subject matter is indeed unique making this a highly collectible CDV. In excellent condition with no edge or corner wear. The only flaw I can see is a small dark mark to the right of the woman’s head as one is looking at her. Please see photo and you be the judge.
