Description
Disston Rip SawsFor your consideration are two Disston Hand Saws. They are:
A
1940-1947 D-23 Rip Saw.
This is a 26” saw with 7 points per inch.
The medallion is 13/16”.
An 1896-1917 Ship Rip Saw.
This is a 24” saw with 9 points per inch.
The medallion is 13/16”.
The saw has a nib.
Both saws are in good working condition.
They need sharping.
You can see the aesthetic condition from my photos.
The saws are tarnished and rusted.
The handle on the D-23 is solid; however, the top of the upper horn has a crack (see photo #3).
The crack is on both sides.
The horn is secured with two small screws on top of the horn.
There is a ½” surface crack on the back side of the handle just right of the lower horn (see photo #9).
The owners name is written on one side of the handle.
The handle on the #12 is close to good.
There is a crack on the lower part of the handle, next to the heel (see photos #2 & #9).
This crack runs around the handle.
There is a tiny bit of movement when I put pressure on the area.
The upper horn has broken off.
