Volkswagen Type III.
1973 VW Fastback , standard transmission, in extremely good condition,nearly all stock and original with exceptions noted below.
This car was a barn-find years ago.
She, (her name is Bacon), had been stored by the original owner in a shed under covers since the mid-1990’s.
Bacon has been well maintained and stored ever since.
My brother is the 2
nd
owner, a VW restoration company mechanic & engine builder and is selling due to health and age. I am assisting him with the sale.
Currently registered and in excellent road-worth driving condition although it had been my brother’s labor-of-love project and not used as a daily driver.
It is started and moved out of the garage at least once every 4 weeks and allowed to run for at least 15 minutes and professionally detailed from time to time.
There are approximately 34,252 miles since new however the odometer does not work.
She has been driven about 750 miles since discovery.
The odometer reads 33052.
The car came with air- conditioning and fuel injection.
The AC system was removed and the fuel injection replaced with Weber carburetors but all original parts have been kept and come with the sale.
This is a superb candidate for a mint condition/show-room-floor restoration that would require relatively little work.
There was a dent in the door which was replaced. The original door was kept – additional photos available.
The new door paint matches in color but you can tell the difference between the new paint and the nearly 50 year old original paint.
There are minor blemishes and touchups by the original owner.
