Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is excited to offer this funky 1971 Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback for sale on consignment with our Arizona showroom. The Type 3 Volkswagen used the same wheelbase as a Type 1 (Beetle) but with ponton side panels coming in Fastback, Notchback and Squareback styling. In total, around 2.5 million Type 3 Volkswagens were produced between 1961 and 1973. This vehicle was designed to be a show vehicle as well as a functional driver for weekend trips, which is everything the Volkswagen brand represents! The build can be classified as “frame up" starting with stripping, working out any bodywork needed, media blasting and later repainting in two-tone Gray and Black to the tune of ,000 according to the seller. Custom chrome bumpers and a roof rack have been added for functionality and looks. The 1600cc engine that comes with this vehicle has been through an expensive overhaul of its own from a full rebuild to new dual carb set up, alternator conversion and more. Similarly, the 3-speed automatic transmission on this vehicle, which is a rare option on Volkswagens to begin with, was rebuilt too. One of the nicest features of this Type 3 has to be the fully reupholstered interior and there have been some clever modifications inside too. The rear bench seat has three configurations; it can fold for more cargo room, provide seating for passengers and can even lay flat as a full-length bed! Storage compartments have also been added on both sides of the rear seats. Power windows are a nice convenience to have as well as the Bluetooth radio with USB input so you can plug your device right in. So you don't get stranded, there's the thoughtful addition of a battery kill switch for when you're not using the items that draw power. General Terms
AVAILABILITY
: We advertise our inventory across multiple websites. It is best practice to inquire about the advertised vehicle prior to purchasing in order confirm that it was not already sold. Vehicles may be sold prior to its eBay advertising ending, and we reserve the right to end advertising/listing early or to cancel any and all bids/offers solely at our discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.  In the event that a bidder has the winning bid or finalizes the buy it now price, but did not check availability and the vehicle was sold before a deposit and contracts were executed, then we are not liable nor responsible.
AS-IS WHERE-IS
: All vehicles are sold on an AS-IS WHERE-IS basis.  Having a third party inspection and addressing any concerns is recommended prior to purchase.  It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser to verify all advertisements which shall include but not limited to options, accessories, and vehicle condition before time of sale.  If the purchaser chooses to waive an inspection, the AS-IS WHERE-IS is still enforced.  Any concerns will not be addressed post sale as the sale is final without cures or remedies.
PAYMENT
: We require a non-refundable ,000 deposit within 24 hours of offer being placed.  A deposit is a commitment to purchase and is applied towards the purchase price. The commitment to purchase is not contingent upon inspection, financing, or any other terms or conditions.
We require full payment within 7 days of offer acceptance, unless other arrangements are agreed to in writing.
If the deposit and/or full payment are not provided within said time frame, all vehicles will be relisted and transaction will be considered null and void.
We accept wire transfer (preferred), cashier's check, personal check (vehicle shipment will be delayed until check clears), ACH, credit cards (for the agreed deposit amount only and will incur a 3% fee), and in person cash payments. We also offer vehicle financing, please inquire for details prior to making bids/offers.  PayPal and American Express is not accepted.
VEHICLE RELEASE
: Signed purchase packet which shall include but not limited to the purchase contract, cleared payment in full, and a copy of your driver's license will be needed before the vehicle is released.
Fees and Taxes
All finalized transactions will have additional charges if applicable which could include the following: sales tax, title fees, license & registration fees, and other additional government or licensing agency charges to register the vehicle.  The purchaser is responsible for these charges.
The advertised price and winning auction bids shall include a document fee of 7.63.
All credit cards are charged a 3% convenient fee.
